First Stakeholder Workshop of the LIFE Wild Wolf Project in Croatia

Today, the first stakeholder workshop for the LIFE Wild Wolf project is being held in the Multifunctional Hall in Cista Velika. The project aims to achieve a balanced, long-term conservation of wolves and manage potentially critical situations that arise in Europe's human-dominated landscapes. The goal of the project is to enhance the capacity of responsible authorities to manage and prevent conflicts related to humans by promoting practices that preserve the wild nature of wolves and improve people’s ability to cope with their unexpected presence.

The ultimate goal of the project is to contribute to the appropriate management of critical situations involving wolves approaching humans in populated areas.

In the Dalmatia region, in collaboration with stakeholders, we aim to establish a local collaborative group. The purpose of this group is to gain insight into the local perspective on coexistence with wolves, understand the concerns and challenges faced by the local population, and explore possible joint solutions.

This workshop has brought together relevant and interested stakeholders involved in the management and/or coexistence with wolves, ranging from direct users of the space to those responsible for managing the wolf population.
